Rules

Equipment rules:

  1. A hockey stick, CSA approved helmet with face cage and gloves are required
  2. Shin pads and jock are recommended
  3. Goalies require full equipment

Game rules:

  1. A game will consist of three 12-minute periods with stop time
  2. Games will be 5 on 5 plus goalies
  3. A team must have a minimum of 4 players to start a game unless both teams agree to play 3 on 3
  4. Changes will be made on the fly unless teams agree to stoppages for line changes
  5. Floating blue line offside will be implemented.  No icing.
  6. There will be no overtime or shootout for tie games in the regular season
  7. Ties in the playoffs will be followed by 5 minute overtime then shootout
  8. One timeout per team is allowed per game
  9. There is absolutely no body checking allowed
  10. Each player can score a maximum of three goals per game in regulation time
  11. Minor penalties (2 minutes) will be called for usual infractions in hockey such as tripping, slashing, cross checking, interference, high sticking, roughing, unsportsmanlike conduct etc.
  12. Major infractions such as hitting from behind may result in a 5-minute penalty plus a game misconduct at the discretion of the referee
  13. Fighting will result in ejection from the game and possible suspension
  14. Abusive language and swearing will result in a penalty
  15. Racist and discriminatory slurs that fall within prohibited grounds in the Ontario Human Rights Code will result in a penalty, misconduct or suspension at the discretion of the league officials

Ranking rules:

  1. Rankings in the Standings will be based on a score calculated as follows:
    1. 60% of points percentage (2* wins + ties) / (2 * games played)
    2. 20% of average game attendance
    3. 10% of assist percentage ( total assists / total goals * 2)
    4. 10% of average goal spread (number of players with goals / total goals)
  2. Standings tie breaker will be as follows:
    1. Head-to-head
    2. Most wins
    3. Least goals against
    4. Goals for – Goals against differential
    5. Draw
  3. Teams ranked 1st and 2nd after nine games will play in the finals.  Teams ranked 3rd and 4th will play for third place.
